How to Write Landing Pages That Convert at 5%+ (With Real Examples)

Most landing pages convert at 1-2%. The difference between average and great is almost entirely copy. Here is what high-converting pages do differently.

What Is a Good Landing Page Conversion Rate?

For a lead generation page (email opt-in, discovery call booking), the industry average is around 2.35%. Top performers convert at 5–10%.

The gap between average and great is not design. It's copy.

The Above-the-Fold Rule

Your visitor decides within 5 seconds whether to keep reading. Everything above the fold (visible without scrolling) must do four things:

  1. Confirm they're in the right place (your niche, their problem)
  2. Tell them specifically what they get
  3. Give them a reason to believe you
  4. Show them the next step

A headline, one sentence of supporting copy, one social proof element, and one CTA button. That's all the above-the-fold section needs.

The 5 Sections of a High-Converting Landing Page

1. Hero (above the fold): Headline, subhead, primary CTA, one social proof element.

2. Problem amplification: 3–5 bullet points describing the specific problem your reader experiences. Use their exact language.

3. Solution + mechanism: What you offer and how it works. Not features — outcomes. And the unique mechanism that delivers those outcomes.

4. Proof: Testimonials, case study snippets, client logos. This is the trust-builder section. One great testimonial beats five mediocre ones.

5. Final CTA: Restate the offer, restate the outcome, make the action obvious. Include an objection handler ("No commitment required," "Cancel anytime," "30-minute call, no pitch").

The Copy Test

Read your landing page out loud. If it sounds like marketing copy, rewrite it until it sounds like something you'd say to a qualified prospect across a coffee table.

The best landing page copy sounds like a conversation, not an advertisement.
