!The Challenge

A 4-clinic physiotherapy group was spending $8,000/month on Google Ads for 60% of their new patient bookings. Organic search drove the other 40% from a website that had not been updated in 3 years. The practice owner knew the ad dependency was unsustainable but had no content system and no in-house marketing capacity.

The Strategy

Built a 12-month SEO content program: condition and treatment pages for every primary condition treated (30 pages), city and neighborhood landing pages for all service areas (12 pages), practitioner profile pages built for organic search, and a monthly educational blog covering physio, injury prevention, and recovery. All content was drafted with AI from clinical briefs provided by the lead physiotherapist, then reviewed by a clinician for accuracy before publishing.

The Results

Organic patient bookings tripled from baseline within 9 months. Google Ads spend reduced by 60% while maintaining total new patient volume. The website now ranks in the top 3 for 47 target keywords across 4 clinic locations.

The Starting Point

When we audited the existing website, the issues were immediate: no dedicated condition pages (a physiotherapy website with no page for "knee pain treatment"), generic city pages with identical content, practitioner bios that were one sentence long, and a blog with 3 posts from 2021.

The organic traffic was coming from branded searches almost entirely. The clinic had zero visibility for the condition-based and location-based searches that drive new patient acquisition.

The Content Architecture

We built the content in three layers:

Layer 1 — Condition and treatment pages (30 pages) One comprehensive page per condition treated: knee pain, lower back pain, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, shoulder injuries, and 25 more. Each page: what the condition is, how physio helps, what a treatment course looks like, how long recovery takes, when to seek care.

These pages target the high-intent searches that occur when someone has a specific problem and is deciding whether to see a physio.

Layer 2 — Local service pages (12 pages) One page per suburb/neighborhood served from each clinic, with specific local context: which high schools the clinic works with for sports injuries, which GP practices they work closely with, the local parking situation (this matters for patients with mobility issues), community events they participate in.

These pages target "[condition] physio [suburb]" queries — some of the highest-converting local search terms that exist.

Layer 3 — Educational blog (monthly) One long-form article per month covering topics the target audience searches: "how to know if you need physio or a doctor," "exercises to do while waiting for your physio appointment," "what to expect at your first physiotherapy session."

The AI Workflow

The lead physiotherapist spent 2 hours per month in a structured interview format, covering the condition being written about that month: symptoms, mechanisms, treatment protocols, common misconceptions, what patients get wrong. This audio was transcribed and given to AI to structure into a first draft. The physio reviewed and corrected the draft (typically 30-45 minutes), then a copywriter edited for readability and SEO structure.

Total clinician time per piece: approximately 3 hours. Total clinic marketing cost: the retainer and a part-time copywriter. The output: content a full-time in-house team would struggle to match.
