How to Repurpose One Piece of Content Into 12 Social Media Posts

Creating content from scratch every day is unsustainable. Here is the repurposing system that turns one piece of content into a full week of social media.

The Content Creation Treadmill

The most common reason consultants burn out on social media is the expectation of constant new content. When every post requires starting from scratch, the volume required to stay visible becomes exhausting.

Repurposing breaks this cycle. One piece of well-researched content — an article, a newsletter, a case study, a framework — contains 10–15 shareable ideas. The work is in finding and formatting them.

The Source Content Types

The best source content for repurposing:

Long-form articles: Every section is a post. Every data point is a post. The conclusion is a post.

Client case studies: The problem, the turning point, the outcome, the key insight, the lesson — five posts from one story.

Frameworks and models: Each step in a framework is a post. The framework overview is a post. The most common mistake is a post.

Conversations and client questions: "I got asked this week..." is one of the highest-performing post formats.

The 12-Post Breakdown From One Article

Starting with a 1,500-word article:

  1. The main thesis as a bold claim
  2. The counterintuitive finding or hook
  3. Step 1 expanded with a personal example
  4. Step 2 with a specific client story
  5. Step 3 as a checklist post
  6. The biggest mistake people make when doing this
  7. The result if you get it right (specific, quantified)
  8. A quote or insight from the article re-framed
  9. A question the article raises (engagement post)
  10. The TL;DR — 5 bullets summarizing the whole article
  11. What I would tell my younger self about this topic
  12. A case study of someone who did this successfully

All 12 posts draw from one article. The article itself can live on your website, in your newsletter, or both.

The Repurposing Calendar

Publish the original article. Then space the 12 social posts over the next 4 weeks — 3 per week. By week 4, new readers are encountering a fresh angle on content that cost you nothing to create.
