Why Every Consultant Needs an AI Content Voice Document
Without a voice document, every AI tool you use will make you sound like everyone else. Here is exactly what to put in yours.

The Root Cause of Generic AI Content
When AI-assisted content sounds robotic or generic, people blame the model. The real problem is almost always missing context.
AI is a pattern-completion engine. What you get out depends entirely on what you put in. Feed it nothing about who you are, and it patterns-matches to average consultant copy.
The fix is a voice document.
What a Voice Document Is
A voice document is a structured reference file that tells your AI tools exactly how you communicate. It's not a style guide — it's a personality brief.
Mine covers six sections:
1. Positioning sentence One line that captures who I help, with what, and why differently.
2. Tone adjectives (with examples) Direct, not harsh. Specific, not academic. Confident, not arrogant. For each adjective, include one sentence example and one counter-example.
3. Phrases I use The words and structures that feel natural to me. "Here's the thing." "The math doesn't work." "Most people miss this." These are flags AI can pattern-match to.
4. Phrases I never use "Unlock your potential." "Dive deep." "Leverage synergies." If AI outputs these, it's pulling from generic content — not from me.
5. My contrarian positions The things I believe that most people in my industry don't. These are the seeds for original content AI can help me expand.
6. My audience persona Not demographics — psychographics. What does my reader believe before they read my content? What do I want them to believe after?
How to Use It
Paste the relevant sections into every AI prompt. Build it into your workflow as a system prompt. Review and update it quarterly as your voice evolves.
The payoff: within 2–3 weeks, your AI-assisted content starts sounding distinctly like you — because the AI is finally working from the right context.
